Normal? What is normal?

Life for us has returned to normal - whatever that is. The temperatures have been really hot and the kids are trying to find ways to keep cool - mostly W.A.T.E.R.

Alyson has been asking most evenings to play in the sprinklers. After last month's water bill, I have been reluctant to let the hose come out. Yesterday afternoon, our neighbors invited us over for swimming and hamburgers. The kids were absolutely thrilled that I put on my swimming suit; this meant Mom could be the target for splashing and spraying! Despite this, the water felt great! Matthew is improving in his swimming - if we could only get him to put his head under water! He gets the gold medal for his doggy paddle! The girls, on the other hand, are fish!

Dave went to Abilene on Friday to attend a state meeting for football officials. He carpooled with another man from the area and came home last night. He said the meeting was a great networking opportunity and he got great deals from vendors on equipment. The content of the lectures was a repeat of a meeting held in Ft. Worth last month; however, he said it was well worth the repeat. Dave is hoping to get some good assignments this fall. He has been promised a slot on a crew and schedules should be available this week. I think this is good for him - it gets him out of the house and football has always been his passion! As an added plus, the games provide extra income. Dave was hoping to put the extra money toward some fun toys; however, the increasing price of gas, food, and everything else have already taken their claim.

That's it for now. Stay cool and be safe!
