MORONI is the man to be like!

I watch the news and see the state of so much contention amongst people that it just saddens me. I have long desired to see more people be happy and kind to one another. I wish that people would just take a few moments and look at what they really want out of life and where they are headed, is the life you are currently leading going to get you there?

For a long time I have thought that the perfect example of what I needed to be like and how I felt about my country was best described by the following scripture:
Alma 48: 11-13, 17
11 And Moroni was a strong and a mighty man; he was a man of a perfect understanding; yea, a man that did not delight in bloodshed; a man whose soul did joy in the liberty and the freedom of his country, and his brethren from bondage and slavery;
12 Yea, a man whose heart did swell with thanksgiving to his God, for the many privileges and blessings which he bestowed upon his people; a man who did labor exceedingly for the welfare and safety of his people.
13 Yea, and he was a man who was firm in the faith of Christ, and he had sworn with an oath to defend his people, his rights, and his country, and his religion, even to the loss of his blood.
17 Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men.

If each of us could just be like this the world would be such a wonderful place and the country that I love, The United States of America, would be even more stronger! The Lord has a perfect plan and from the very beginning has shown us over and over in the scriptures and by his example what it takes to be like him and I think this passage just explains it so simply.

The Gospel Never Changes

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Holiday Season. As the new year begins I have been reflecting on the things that matter the most, family comes to mind but I have to say that my relationship with my Heavenly Father is right there at the top. The one thing that I have began to realize is the gospel never changes. The more I read the scriptures and study the doctrines and principles they are the same.

There are so many things that change is this world and it seems there is just a constant state of change. Take science for example, here is a quote that really shows how quickly things change.

“One day during his tenure as a professor, Albert Einstein was visited by a student. 'The questions on this year's exam are the same as last year's!' the young man exclaimed. 'Yes,' Einstein answered, "but this year all the answers are different.' (Albert Einstein)”

This is a perfect example of why the scriptures have stood the test of time and all the principles taught from the time of Adam and Eve until today by our current prophet are still the same. The Lord is unchanging and the gospel is perfect. A life long study will only strengthen our understanding of the doctrines of Christ because the "Gospel Never Changes."

I want to challenge everyone to spend some time this year studying and learning the gospel because it will only benefit you and help you through out your life as the things you learn will stand the test of time.
