At the beginning of the month, I went to Wal-Mart vision center for my annual checkup. I decided I would take the kids since I pay for family vision insurance and I had money left in my flexible spending account I need to spend before year end. I am so glad I did. The first question the doctor asked after looking at Alyson was "does Alyson have trouble reading?" Well... yes, she always has. I didn't think she had a problem because I've witnessed her reading small print in a book from clear across the room. She also does very well when tested at school. My poor little girl is farsighted. She can't see things right in front of her face!
Alyson was so excited to go pick out some glasses. She spent a long time trying on different frames looking for the perfect pair. She could hardly wait the 5 days it took to get them made for her prescription. She will never take them off now. Low and behold, her reading has improved remarkably! Imagine that!
The rest of us got a clear checkup. My eyes haven't changed and the doctor recommended I try a new brand of contacts made for people with dry eyes. I really like them so far. As for the other two, they will need glasses sometime in the next 1-2 years, but not right now. I guess that's par for course when 75% of the family wear glasses.
