It was a short week for the kids at school. The girls spent Monday and Tuesday at home with Dave and Matthew. They invited friends over to play but really nothing all that exciting to write about. The weather was really cold and wet this week. Luckily the temperatures stayed above freezing and we didn't have to worry about an icy commute.
Rachel and Alyson came home Friday with report cards. Rachel made straight A's this term. I am proud of her. She brought up her Math grades - they weren't bad to begin with, but she made progress. Alyson improved in all areas especially reading. The teachers don't give grades in 1st grade here - only "S" or "E". Both girls like going to school and learning new things. Rachel spent a lot of the weekend telling me about the planets and stars in our solar system - if anyone else is interested in learning about them, I am sure she will oblige!
Dave and I had time yesterday when Rachel and Alyson were gone to play with friends and we only had Matthew. We are so boring! Here we had an opportunity to go do something fun and we stayed home! Dave watched t.v. - or should I say napped. I worked on taxes. Sounds real fun, huh?
The weather has turned warm again. I don't know whether to wear a coat or not! Today is an absolutely beautiful day - in the 70s and sunny. I couldn't ask for a nicer Sunday.

I hope you are all having a great Sunday. As I look back on the week there is not much to report. The kids were out of school early Thursday for an extended weekend. Alyson asked "why didn't they just give us more time at Christmas?" My thoughts exactly, but they didn't ask me. The kids have spent the last couple days playing board games, doing crafts, watching t.v. and playing video games. They will return to school on Wednesday.
Dave and I went out last night for our first "date" in a while. We went to a nice southwestern restaurant called "Blue Mesa Cafe". I really enjoyed my meal. I think Dave did too. We then went to see "I Am Legend". We made it through the first 40 minutes, but then decided we just weren't enjoying it enough to stay. I must admit this was the first movie I have ever walked out on. I know some of you have already seen the movie and enjoyed it; however, it just wasn't up our alley. Dave was worried that I would be upset when he suggested leaving because we spent $18 to get in. Amazingly, it didn't bother me at all. We ended our date just as we do all other dates - a trip to the grocery store!

This is my first post of 2008! We had computer challenges over the last couple weeks and ended up re-formatting both computers. Dave agreed to do some advertising for a company who makes high quality video cards in exchange for a free video card for his computer. He upgraded his computer and then moved the old, but newer stuff to the kids computer. Now both are faster than I am used to.
The highlight of the last two weeks for me was a visit from Cheri and her family. Cheri, Rebecca, Ryan, and Paige came Friday, a week ago. They spent the weekend lounging and playing with us while Dave (Taylor), Brooke, and Holly participated in volleyball tournaments in Dallas. Alyson was in heaven having her cousin there to bounce off the walls with. Ryan seemed to warm up to us and our home before the weekend was over. It was fun for me to have Paige to hold and cuddle - she is adorable! My babies are all too big and don't like Mom hugging and kissing on them all that much. We were sad to see everyone leave on Sunday.
Other than our visitors last weekend, life is pretty normal. The girls are back in school and I am back to work. I am enjoying working with my new boss. He was named as "interim" for the position until leadership can post and hire the replacement. I could get used to him on a permanent basis. He has very good management and communication skills I didn't realize was lacking in his predecessor.
I don't know what else to report for Dave. He seems to be enjoying his upgraded computer. He is gone tonight watching the Patriots' football game with his friends. I now have the kids in bed and look forward to peace and quiet.
