I am writing this update from a hotel room in Orlando, Florida. Our hotel overlooks a really nice swimming pool on one side and Sea World on the other. I am here for a conference for work. Dave came along for the ride. Dave's plans include a trip to Kennedy Space Center and the Daytona Motor Speedway. In the evenings when I am out of meetings we will do some other sight-seeing around town. We haven't quite decided what yet - Disney World? Epcot Center? MGM Studios? Universal Studios? We'll see what time allows!
We wish we could have brought the kids on this trip, but will enjoy much needed time together! We'll have to plan a return trip when school is out and we can work it in our budget. The kids are at home with Grandma Ankeney who graciously agreed to come and spend the week with them. She has great plans for the week - I hope she is able to relax and enjoy the time. Most importantly, I hope the kids behave for her!

This was another "normal" week for our family. Matthew spent time riding his bike all over the neighborhood. He was so happy to show me how well he can stay up on his own. I went for a walk on the walking trail close to our house and all three kids raced each other around the little lake on their bikes. As we head into spring, I am sure we'll be making more outings like this.
We didn't do anything special for Valentine's Day this week except for eat all the yummy goodies around. Dave and I went out to dinner with Dave's friend Trent and his girlfriend last night. It was fun to visit and spend time together. The kids liked their babysitter and seemed to have enjoyed our being away. Alyson convinced her that all three kids could setup "beds" in front of the t.v. in our gameroom and have a slumber party. When we got home, the girls were out but Matthew was still awake watching cartoons. Needless to say, he was a bear today!

It's been a couple of weeks since I last wrote. We've had some fun things go on in our house since then. A week ago, my parents came for a visit. If you ask Rachel what the best part of Grandma and Grandpa's visit was she will respond, "CRAB!". One of her very favorite meals is snow crab at Red Lobster. Grandpa wanted to treat the kids to something special and a trip to Red Lobster was their choice. Of course I didn't mind that one bit. The rest of that weekend was pretty relaxed; I enjoyed the down time and visiting with Mom and Dad.
Matthew had a couple big events this week - a birthday party at a local swimming pool, his first "meeting" with his baseball team, and . . . drumroll, please . . . NO MORE TRAINING WHEELS! I came home tonight and Matthew as riding all over the neighborhood WITH NO TRAINING WHEELS! I was so excited for him! We are finally officially out of the toddler years! The next big milestone will be starting Kindergarten in August.
For the girls, they had a very special date with Dad Saturday night. It was the annual "Daddy Daughter Dance" at the school.
This is like Prom for elementary! They painted nails (hands and toes), dolled up hair, and dressed up in new dresses from Wal-Mart. They had a blast getting ready for the event. They were part of the lucky few who got there early enough to get food and enjoy time "dancing" (Dave would call it running around the gym) with friends. Dave was commenting on the difference between this year and last - last year both girls stayed pretty close to Dave and wouldn't socialize with very many people. This year, they were all over the place. They had friends everywhere and were having a blast being butterflies!
