The highlight of this week was swimming lessons. The kids were looking forward to this for weeks and now they completed their first week. The goal was to get Matthew to put his head completely under water. We've made progress - he'll stick his head under water, if only for a second or two! Now he just needs to swim like a fish! He's so cute. I know Dave promised (bribed) him a special treat if he learned to swim really well. The girls are doing fantastic. They are learning good technique and having fun at it too.
It's been extremely hot here and we are finally getting a break - yesterday and today, we've only been in the high 90's! To top it all off, our air conditioner is on the fritz AGAIN. Every year we've been here, we spend $4-500 to keep the unit running. We had a technician out last week to fix something and then this week Dave replaced a failed fan motor. By now, we practically have a new unit!
Dave was hoping he could apply the $500 he saved me by doing the AC work himself toward the heap of metal sitting in my garage (that's called a "Mustang", I believe). Dave is looking for ways to turn this heap of metal into a driving machine - just needs to find some philanthropic friends or a job. The job option may be in the works, maybe we'll have more to report next week. (As for the car, it's not really a sore spot with me. It's just fun to poke at Dave. He has been frustrated - UNDERSTATEMENT - that his funding has not been there to do what he really wants. Someday...)
That's about all. Hope you have a great week!

Our house has no air conditioning except for ceiling fans. We also can't use swamp coolers because of our new wood floors. It has been 90 degrees in our house for the last several afternoons. I think I am going to die! We haven't bought window air conditioners because our central air is on the way...after we rewire the house to accommodate the level of electricity needed...AHHHH! At least we don't live in Texas!
I'm glad swimming lessons are as much fun as the children thought they'd be.
